A motorcyclist has been killed in a head-on collision with a truck on a regional road in Chuadanga's Alamdanga Upazila.
The crash occurred around 9:30pm on Thursday near Sadabridge on the Alamdanga-Kushtia regional road, said Alamdanga Police chief Bani Israel.
The victim, Habibur Rahman, 40, was from Patikabari Union under Ishwardi Police Station in Kushtia.
He worked for a non-governmental organisation.
Police, citing locals, said Habibur was riding back from Kushtia towards Chuadanga when a truck belonging to Asad Agrotech Limited came from the opposite direction and hit him head-on near Sadabridge.
He was crushed under the truck and died on the spot. His face was badly disfigured by the wheels.
Locals chased the truck and detained it at Jagannathpur, where an angry crowd beat the driver and helper. The two managed to slip away.
Alamdanga police and a Fire Service and Civil Defence unit recovered the body and took the damaged motorcycle into custody.
Police officer Bani said the truck has been seized, the driver and helper remain at large, an inquest report has been completed and further legal steps are under way.
