Two more people have died of dengue while 337 new patients have been hospitalised with the Aedes mosquito-borne disease across over the past 24 hours.
The number of patients hospitalised with the disease this year rose to 13,931, while the tally of fatalities climbed to 54.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said as many as 76 new patients were hospitalised in the Dhaka city until Thursday.
In addition, 41 were hospitalised in the Dhaka Division, 58 in Chattogram, five Mymensingh, 28 in Khulna, 27 in Rajshahi, 101 in Barishal, and one in Sylhet.
As many as 1,286 dengue patients are receiving treatment in hospitals, 361 in Dhaka and 925 outside the capital.
June saw 5,951 hospitalisations and 19 fatalities, followed by 1,773 cases and three deaths in May.
Earlier, 701 cases and seven deaths were recorded in April, 336 hospitalisations with no fatalities in March, 374 cases and three deaths in February, and 1,161 cases with 10 deaths in January.
In 2024, a total of 101,214 patients were hospitalised due to dengue nationwide, with 575 fatalities reported.
This marks the third-highest number of hospitalisations due to dengue in the country’s history, while the death toll ranks as the second-highest.
