Barguna, June 20 (bdnews24.com) — The 42 python eggs found by the Forest Department in the Fatra forest have begun to hatch.
Seven baby pythons had come out till Monday noon after the eggs began to hatch on Sunday morning. The two-feet-long babies started running barely around after about half an hour of their birth.
But the mother has been missing since Thursday. Forest officers believe she has taken shelter from the incessant heavy rain of the last few days.
Fatra beat officer Jalilur Rahman said the nesting python was seen on May 20 by workers of the planned Kuakata Eco Park.
The mother drew attention from people and the media, which compelled the forest officials to close down the forest at one point.
Jalilur said they were hoping all 42 eggs would hatch and would stand guard till then.
