Angelina Jolie is reportedly weighing a move abroad and is preparing to sell her home in Los Angeles.
The actress, 50, is said to be “planning to put the house up for sale” as she considers relocating outside the United States, according to People magazine.
Jolie, who shares six children with her former husband, Brad Pitt, has spoken in the past about her ambivalence toward living in Los Angeles.
A source told People that she “never wanted to live in LA full time” but remained there because of the couple’s custody arrangement.
Their children Maddox, 24, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17 have spent much of their lives in the city.
Jolie and Pitt separated in 2016, setting off nearly eight years of legal disputes over custody and assets.
Their divorce was finalised in December 2024, though disagreements remain over ownership of Château Miraval, a French winery valued at roughly $500 million.
People reports that Jolie intends to move once her youngest children turn 18.
“She’ll be very happy when she’s able to leave Los Angeles,” a source said, adding that she has looked at properties abroad.
Her Los Angeles home, described as “a historic masterpiece,” could be sold after minor renovations.
Jolie purchased the property in 2017 for $24.5 million.
Built in 1913, the 11,000 square foot estate has six bedrooms and ten bathrooms.
The home’s history includes director Cecil B DeMille, who bought it in 1916, and Charlie Chaplin, who lived nearby before DeMille combined the properties.
In a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jolie reflected on why she remained in Los Angeles despite wanting to leave.
“When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, and safety,” she said.
“I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be … that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here.”
Jolie has said she hopes to spend time in Cambodia, where she adopted her eldest son, Maddox, in 2002.
Speaking at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in February, she described the country as the place “in my heart” that feels most like home.
