Jonathan Bailey, best known for his role in "Bridgerton", has announced he will be taking a break from his successful acting career to devote time to his charity work.
The 37-year-old actor, who launched The Shameless Fund in 2024, said the charity will be his priority over the next year.
The organisation aims to expand resources for queer communities worldwide, with Bailey emphasising the need for dedicated funding.
“There’s this statistic: out of every £100 raised in the UK, only one penny goes to the LGBTQ+ community,” he told the GQ, a men’s fashion magazine based in the US.
“You really have to dig to find solutions, and I genuinely think The Shameless Fund is exactly that.”
Bailey described his work in television and film as “amazing and mind-blowing,” but said that “with everything happening in the world right now, I'm going to stop acting for a bit next year and just focus on the Shameless Fund."
He added that he intends to spend the coming months building the charity’s infrastructure and staff.
The actor’s recent red-carpet appearances also helped inspire one of the foundation’s first collaborations.
Fans have since been gushing over the small round glasses he wore while promoting "Wicked" and "Jurassic World Rebirth".
The frames have now been reimagined through a partnership with the eyewear brand Cubitts.
The design, named “Loomis” after Bailey’s "Jurassic World Rebirth" character, comes in a bright pink shade.
Bailey called the colour “an expression of joy and happiness,” and noted that it had been a staple of his wardrobe during the Wicked press tour.
Half of the proceeds from sales, priced at £150, will go directly to The Shameless Fund.
Bailey’s co-stars Cynthia Erivo and Scarlett Johansson have already been spotted wearing the glasses, according to UK-based online news platform The Independent.
“Every LGBTQ+ person should be able to love freely, and thrive without the burdens of discrimination, oppression, or shame,” Bailey said.
Bailey rose to international fame in the Regency drama "Bridgerton" before winning an Emmy Award for his performance in "Fellow Travellers".
