Public barred from entering within 200 yards of HSC exam centres

The HSC and equivalent examinations are set to begin on Jun 26

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has restricted public entry within 200 yards of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examination centres this year.

In a public notice issued on Monday and signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali, police said the move is intended to ensure that the exams are conducted “fairly and peacefully”.

The restriction, enforced under Sections 28 and 29 of the DMP Ordinance, prohibits unauthorised access to the designated zones. Only examinees and individuals officially involved with the exams will be allowed to enter these areas.

The order will remain in force during each exam, covering the full duration of the tests.

According to the ordinance, Section 28 allows the police commissioner to regulate public gatherings and the use of sound systems, while Section 29 authorises bans on assemblies or processions to safeguard public order or security.

This year’s HSC and equivalent exams will begin on Jun 26, with written tests continuing until Aug 10. Practical exams are scheduled for Aug 11-21.

Although education boards had initially announced tests on full marks spanning the full duration in all subjects, the 2025 exams will follow the shortened syllabus from 2023.
