Bangladesh have slumped to a crushing 99-run defeat, handing Sri Lanka a 2–1 series win in the final ODI.
A superb hundred from Kusal Mendis has set the tone, before the visitors’ top order folded without a fight.
The series decider, held at Pallekele on Tuesday, saw Sri Lanka post 285 for 7 after opting to bat first.
Mendis, in fluent form, anchored the innings with a composed 124 off 114 balls, laced with 18 boundaries.
He lost opening partner Nishan Madushka early, but built a 56-run stand with Pathum Nissanka (35).
Kamindu Mendis added 16 before falling cheaply, but the game turned with a 124-run partnership between Mendis and Charith Asalanka, who made 58 from 68 balls.
Mendis brought up his fifty in 58 deliveries, shifting gears to reach three figures in just 95.
He was finally dismissed in the 46th over, and Bangladesh clawed back late with tight bowling --conceding just 63 in the final 10 overs.
Chasing 286, Bangladesh’s innings fell apart early.
Tanzid Hasan (17 off 13) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (0) fell inside four overs.
Parvez Hossain scraped 28 off 44 balls before holing out, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s lively 28 ended with another soft dismissal.
Shamim Hossain lasted only 12.
Hridoy hung in to post 51 off 78, but Dushmantha Chameera ended his stay with a beauty that crashed into the stumps.
Jaker Ali added 27 in a brief rearguard, yet it was not enough.
Bangladesh folded for 186 in just 39.4 overs.
The sides now move on to the three-match T20I series, starting Thursday at the same venue.
