West Indies allrounder Kieron Pollard has cemented his legacy in T20 cricket by becoming only the second player to cross the 14,000-run mark in the format, achieving a feat that further solidifies his place among the game's greats.
Pollard’s T20 career is not only defined by his batting feats but also by his bowling prowess, as he becomes the first player to complete the unique double of 14,000 runs and 300 wickets.
No other bowler with 300 T20 wickets has even surpassed 10,000 runs.
The historic moment came in the Caribbean Premier League on Saturday, where Pollard needed just 19 runs to reach the milestone.
He finished on 19 not out from 9 balls, hitting a six and 2 fours, as Trinbago Knight Riders successfully chased down 178 against Barbados Royals. Colin Munro and Nicholas Pooran’s fifties guided them home with 13 balls and 7 wickets to spare.
Pollard achieved the 14,000-run milestone in his 712th match and 633rd innings. His tally includes a hundred and 64 fifties. Chris Gayle, however, remains the format's all-time leading run-scorer with 14,562 runs from 455 innings.
At 38, Pollard has focused primarily on franchise cricket, stepping away from international duties and the IPL. While his bowling has become infrequent, he has still claimed 332 T20 wickets from 425 innings, with eight 4-wicket hauls and best figures of 4 for 15. His bowling average stands at 25.18.
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan tops the T20 wickets chart with 661 wickets from 484 innings.
Pollard’s most significant contributions have come in franchise leagues, where he has scored 1,569 runs and taken 42 wickets from 101 T20 appearances.
