Hasina appointed five advisers after forming a 49-member cabinet on Jan 12.
They are HT Imam (politics), Gowher Rizvi (foreign affairs), Mashiur Rahman (Economic Affairs) and Tarique Ahmed Siddique (Security affairs).
They have all served during Hasina's last term.
Two other of her former advisors -- Syed Modasser Ali (health) and Alauddin Ahmed (education) -- have not been brought back.
Along with five advisers, Jatiya Party Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad is serving as Special Envoy to the Prime Minister.
Tawfiq was born at Bianibazar in Sylhet in 1945.
After joining Pakistan Civil Service, he served as deputy commissioner at Meherpur in 1971. He is a freedom fighter.
He was also active during the oath-taking ceremony of the Provisional Government at Mujibnagar on April 17, 1971.
He left his job and fought in Sector-8 during Bangladesh’s War of Independence .
After the independence, he again joined the administration and retired as secretary.
He was also accused in a case filed against Hasina during the military-backed 2007-08 caretaker government.
In 2009 he was appointed as an adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Tawfiq, now 69, is married to Asma Chowdhury and the couple has two daughters.
