Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Sunday said, “Necessary steps will be taken after we receive a copy of the order. The directives will be fully followed as per law.”
A High Court bench had earlier in the day ordered the arrest of three suspended RAB officers after hearing a writ petition.
“But it would have been fine if this writ petition was not filed when the investigation is ongoing,” said the state minister for home affairs.
Dr Bijay Kumar Pal, son-in-law of the murdered lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar, Narayanganj Lawyers Forum Chairman Shakawat Hossain and Mahbubur Rahman, executive president of local organisation ‘Amra Narayanganjbashi’ filed the plea in the morning.
The officers are former Lt Col Tarek Sayeed Mohammad and Maj Arif Hossain of the army and naval officer Lt Commander MM Rana.
Mohammad, who was the RAB-11 commanding officer in Narayanganj, is the son-in-law of Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya.
He and the two other RAB men were removed from RAB and sent to their parent forces, two days after seven people including Narayanganj City councillor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Sarkar were abducted.
The abductees were killed and thrown into the Shitalakhyya River. Their bodies were found over two days -- six on April 30 and the seventh on May 1.
After one of the victim’s family alleged that RAB was involved in the abduction and murders, the RAB officers were sent on forced retirement.
Another High Court bench on May 5 had ordered formation of administrative investigation committee to look into the allegations.
The committee met the families of the victims on Saturday and interviewed them. They will also hold a public hearing on Monday and Thursday.
The families on Saturday demanded arrest of former three RAB officers alleging they were directly linked to the murders.
After that, Bijay Pal and two others filed the petition on Sunday seeking court directive to arrest the trio.
The High Court said they should be arrested under Section 54 even if no charges were found sticking against them under the Code of Criminal Procedure or other Acts.
It has also ordered the Inspector General of Police to take immediate measures in this regard.
