It was described as a 'human Padma bridge' and created a furore in the social media after pictures of the Chairman Noor Hossain Patwari walking over the students appeared on the internet.
Patwari, who is also the local Awami League unit's general secretary, was seen walking across a 'human bridge' during the annual sports day at Nilkamal Osmania High School on Monday.
Pictures and a video of him walking on the back of a student borne aloft by fellow students raised a firestorm after they went viral on the social media.
Haimchar police OC Syed Mahbubur Rahman said one Ali Ahmad, a student's parent, filed a case against five people on charges of cruelty against children.
He said the case has been filed under the Children and Women Repression Prevention Act.
The four others accused are the school's headmaster Mosharraf Hossain, its management body Chairman Humayun Patwary and members Mansur Ahmed and Abul Bashar.
Amid the furore, pictures of a similar incident where a Jamalpur school land donor walking on the shoulders of students have emerged on Wednesday raking a storm of anger from netizens.
Dildar Hossain Prince had donated land to the Mahmudpur Bahumukhi High School in Jamalpur.
On Jan 29, the school's Physical Education Teacher Hafizur Rahman helped land donor Dildar Hossain Prince walk across the 'human bridge' during an event.
"Just walked over the shoulders of the students, nothing more than that happened," Prince told bdnews24.com.
