Dhaka, Dec 4 (bdnews24.com)- Bangladesh Bar Council vice chairman Rokanuddin Mahmud and three other lawyers were sued in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court Monday for "involvement in vandalism" at the Supreme Court Thursday.
Omar Sadat, a lawyer and son-in law of former minister and BNP leader Shajahan Siraj, filed the case in the court of magistrate ABM Abul Fattah.
Other accused are: Subrata Chowdhury of Sammilito Ainjibi Parishad, former secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association Enayetur Rahim and Aswafur Rahman.
Magistrate Abul Fattah directed Shahbag thana officer in charge (OC) to conduct investigation into the allegations made in the case.
Demonstration, ransacking and setting fire to a car of former state minister for law Shahjahan Omar marked the Supreme Court incidents Thursday when a section of lawyers became agitated as the chief justice suspended the proceedings of a writ challenging assumption of the post of chief adviser of the caretaker government by President Iajuddin Ahmed.
A High Court bench was about to give the verdict and issue rule on the writ when the suspension order came.
Four-party backed lawyers blamed pro14-party lawyers for the mayhem.
