Dhaka, April 13 (BDNEWS) - Bangladesh Riffles (BDR) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) prioritised the security related issues on the first day of a four-day conference that started Wednesday at the BDR headquarters in Dhaka.
Both sides also reached consensus to resolve any problems regarding barbed–wire fence within 150 yards of the border through discussion.
Major General Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Director General (DG) of BDR, led a 22-member Bangladesh side. BSF Director General Sree RS Mooshahary led the 16-member Indian delegation.
Sources concerned said that BDR in the meeting handed over a list of 444 Bangladeshi terrorists getting shelter in India.
A top official of BDR said the host side in the meeting disclosed a list of 90 training camps of anti-Bangladesh elements in India and armed activities of 22 anti-Bangladesh organisations, including Swadhin Bangabhumi Andolan.
They also mentioned the names of the drug and arms smugglers operating activities from India.
"We have handed over particulars of 21 drug businessmen, 10 arms smugglers and 20 phensidyle factories inside the Indian territory," said a BDR source.
Besides, the BDR informed the BSF about 30 terrorists who are committing anti-Bangladesh activities in Chittagong Hill Tracts, coming from the other side of the border.
"We have also emphasised the issue of killing and injuring of our nationals by BSF and Indian citizen frequently," a high official of BDR told BDNEWS.
Senior officials of Home and External Affairs Ministries of India attended the meet.
Representatives of Home and Foreign Ministries of Bangladesh as well as senior officials of Bangladesh-India Joint River Commission took part in the conference.
In the afternoon, the BSF delegates met with State Minister for Home Lutfozzaman Babor at his Secretariat office.
The bilateral conference will conclude Saturday after a two-day break.
