Three more policemen, including a deputy inspector general (DIG), have been suspended for allegedly absconding from their workplace.

The suspensions were announced via three separate notifications on the home ministry’s website on Tuesday.

The officials affected are Noor-e-Al Mina, a former DIG of the Chattogram Range; former deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Manas Kumar Poddar, and Rahmat Ullah Chowdhury.

The suspensions come two days after the suspension of 13 other policemen of SP, additional SP, and assistant SP rank on similar charges of prolonged absence from duty.

DIG Mina was last posted at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi, where he has reportedly been absent since Feb 9.

The statement said that he had been suspended under the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules for “absconding”.

He, however, will continue to receive a food allowance during the suspension period, as permitted by the rules.

Manas was most recently stationed at the DIG office in the Cumilla Range and has been absent from duty since Oct 18, 2024.

The order was signed by Home Secretary Nasimul Gani on Jun 29 and was made public on the ministry’s website on Tuesday.

Rahmat Ullah, who had been recently transferred to the Industrial Police as an SP, has reportedly been absent from that post since Feb 10.

His suspension has also been issued on grounds of unauthorised absence.
