Bangladesh has condemned the “violation of sovereignty” in several Middle Eastern countries following a massive military escalation in the region, though it omitted Iran from its list of named nations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Sunday expressing deep concern over the safety of Bangladeshi nationals.
The condemnation follows a large-scale military operation launched by the United States and Israel on Saturday, which reportedly resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and over 200 others.
The statement condemns what it said “the violation of sovereignty of some countries of the region, including Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates”.
“In the wake of attacks on Iran, Bangladesh continues to be deeply concerned at the safety and security of its nationals residing in this country,” the statement added.
The statement warned that the continuation of hostilities will only endanger regional peace, stability, and the well-being of civilian populations.
It calls upon all concerned parties to exercise highest restraint and return to diplomacy to resolve the differences.
Bangladesh also hoped that calm would prevail at the earliest and peace, security, and stability will be restored across the region.
