The tenures of the five commissions formed in the second phase of the efforts to drive state reforms has been extended until Mar 31.
The Cabinet Division announced the extension for the media, health, women’s affairs, labour and local government reform commissions on Tuesday.
The commissions were formed on Nov 18 and were given 90 days to submit their reports. They have now been given around one and a half months longer to complete their work.
The reports from the six reform commissions formed in the first phase have already been submitted to the government.
After receiving the reports on constitutional, judicial, electoral system, public administration, police, and Anti-Corruption Commission reforms, the National Consensus Commission, led by Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, opened discussions with political parties and other stakeholders.
The first meeting of the Consensus Commission with representatives from 27 political parties and alliances took place on Feb 15.
