A mild cold wave is sweeping over the Moulvibazar, Panchagarh, Rajshahi and Pabna districts, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department says.

Meteorologist Shahnaz Sultana told bdnews24.com on Friday afternoon that the cold wave may continue in the four districts on Saturday, with little change in temperature.

“There is a possibility of a slight increase in temperature from Monday,” she said.

According to the Met Office, the lowest temperature recorded in the country over the 24 hours until Friday morning was 8.4 degrees Celsius in Sreemangal, while the highest was 31.6 degrees Celsius in Teknaf.

During the same period, Dhaka recorded a minimum temperature of 17 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 28.5 degrees Celsius, the department said.

The five-day weather forecast indicates that dry weather with temporarily partly cloudy skies may prevail across the country from Friday to Tuesday.

Light to moderate fog may occur in some places, particularly over river basin areas, during the morning hours.

The Meteorological Department said night and day temperatures may remain almost unchanged on Friday and Saturday, though a slight drop in temperatures is possible during the day time on Saturday.

On Sunday, temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged, while a slight rise in both day and night temperatures is likely from Monday.

The temperature is forecast to remain largely unchanged on Tuesday.
