Ansar members will no longer be subjected to a mandatory six-month rest period, Home Advisor Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said.
"We three advisors, after discussions with other colleagues, have come to a decision that the rest policy will no longer be in effect,"he said during a press conference at the Secretariat on Sunday.
A committee would be formed to address other demands. “This committee will review everything and send us a report, based on which we will make a decision.”
Currently, Ansar members are required to take a six-month rest period after every three years of service. During this time, they often face severe financial difficulties.
The advisor said they are exploring ways to remove this policy and regularise employment.
“A representative committee of four Ansar members will provide recommendations within the next seven days," he added.
At the briefing, Information Advisor Nahid Islam said the committee would carefully analyse the situation before reaching a conclusion.
Despite the ongoing national crisis, the committee will strive to find a logical solution after thorough discussions.
“However, the initial decision to abolish the rest policy has already been made,” he added.
Meanwhile, a member of the Ansars delegation, said: "We spoke with the advisor, and he was very supportive. Considering the overall situation in the country, we have decided to suspend the movement."
