Dhaka, Aug 15 (BDNEWS) – Condition of poet Shamsur Rahman at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University worsened further Tuesday.
"His blood pressure (BP) was fluctuating, and liver and lung were not functioning properly," poet's daughter Sumi Rahman told BDNEWS.
"The possibility of sending him abroad for better treatment became uncertain as his condition deteriorated sharply," the on-duty doctor said.
Like Monday, a large number of anxious people from different parts of the capital thronged the gate of the ICU to have a glimpse of the poet. But none was allowed to visit him.
But the top leaders of two major political parties are yet to visit the ailing poet even after nine days of his admission into the ICU.
ICU doctors said, his condition worsened Tuesday compared to Monday. His blood pressure went down and it was fluctuating that might be a life threat for the poet.
The poet has been kept with life-support. He is being given medicine to control the fluctuating blood pressure.
"The medical board is monitoring the condition of the poet round the clock," the duty doctor said.
Poet Shamsur Rahman was admitted to the BSMMU on August 6 with various old-age complications, including breathing problem.
