Ahmed, appointed on Apr 24, hoped he will succeed with everyone’s assistance.

On his first day in office on Monday, he told bdnews24.com: “Updating the audit reports will be my first task.”
He joined the 1981 BCS batch under the Audit and Accounts cadre. Ahmed was a Member of the Planning Commission when he was named the CAG.
Ahmed, who was sworn in as the CAG on Sunday, said he would start full-fledged work from Tuesday.
"The activities of the Office of CAG have gained speed in the last few years," he added.
It was in the 2009-10 financial year when the audit reports were updated last.
The Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (OCAG) audits government receipts and public spending and ascertains whether expenditures have yielded value for money in government offices, public bodies and statutory organisations.
However, the Constitution provides the CAG with complete independence and he is not subject to any other authority having access to all documents required for conducting audit.
The audit observations go to Parliament via the President's Office. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts decides on disposal of the audit observations.
Masud Ahmed obtained his Honours and Masters degrees in English from Dhaka University. He also completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Ulster, UK.
Ahmed is also a writer who has published 100 stories and seven novels. Eight telefilms have been aired on television based on his writings.
