At least 52 people have been killed and over 200 others injured as the massive earthquake epicentred in Nepal jolted several North and East Indian states.

Reports of large scale damage and casualties have been received from Delhi, Assam, Bihar, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.
At least 25 people were killed and nearly 200 injured in various parts of Bihar while 24 deaths, mostly of children, were reported from Uttar Pradesh and three persons were killed in West Bengal in Saturday’s earthquake.
States like Rajasthan Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh also had a mild affect of the earthquake.
The impact of the tremor was also visible amongst the inmates of the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
“I had come down from the fifth floor of the hospital as soon as I felt the tremor,” said Jayshree Das, who was in shock in the wake of the two-minute tremor.
The tremor was felt in the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR) as well.
Reports pouring in from Bihar said that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who cut short his Delhi visit, confirmed the 25 deaths in his state after a crisis management meeting in Patna.
In Uttar Pradesh, 24 people were killed and more than 20 people were injured.
The tremors were felt between 11:30am and 12:30pm, creating all-round panic with people rushing out of their houses and moving to safer places.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in an emergency meeting with his cabinet colleagues took stock of the situation in the state.
He later spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and apprised him of the situation in the state.
In West Bengal at least three deaths were reported.
Many schoolchildren were among the injured in the state.
Siliguri had the maximum impact, whereas Kolkata escaped with minimal damage.
Meanwhile, Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee took stock of the situation.
