The match is over!!! Netherlands win 4-3 on penalities!!!
The fairy-tale run comes to an end for Costa Rica, but in the cruelest possible fashion. A masterstroke by Louis Van Gaal by bringing in Tim Krul for the penalty shoot out. It could have backfired, but Krul made two superb stops to send the Dutch through.

119' OFF THE POST!!! Sneijder hits the bar with a curling effort, it comes out to Robben who lashes it back towards goal but it hits Van Persie.
118' SAVE!!! Great chance for Costa Rica to win it as Urena drives into the Dutch box before attempting to find the bottom corner, but Cillessen makes a fine save.
116' The Dutch lose it and Borges runs at them before cutting it back to Bolanos who twists, turns and then has his shot deflected out for a corner. Bolanos sends it far too deep and it's out for a goal kick.
115' Myrie goes flying down the right before sliding into a challenge with Vlaar near the Dutch box. The throw is given to the Dutch but it was a great effort from the defender.
111' Yellow card for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. Huntelaar goes in on Navas and fouls the keeper to earn a yellow card. Navas has a lie down and a bit more treatment.
107' Johnny Acosta booked. Robben goes on another run down the right and goes past Diaz before Acosta comes across and they smash into each other.
106' The second half of extra time is underway. Second change for Netherlands as Huntelaar replaces Martins Indi.
Half-time of Extra Time
105+2' The referee blows for the half-time of extra time.
105' Costa Rica attack now and Ruiz tries to slip Urena in on the edge of the box but he plays the pass too hard. It would have been a great chance through on goal. The fourth official shows there are two minutes of time to be added.
103' Wijnaldum chips one through to Robben who then cuts into the area from the right again. His shot is blocked though and when he is fed the ball once again his second attempt is blocked by Diaz. Free kick to the Dutch just outside the box on the right. Seems to be a harsh free kick with the ball hitting his shoulder.
99' Costa Rica want a penalty as Urena goes down inside the Dutch box under pressure from Vlaar, but the referee is not interested.
97' Costa Rica substitution. They make their third and final change as Cusero replaces Tejeda.
93' MISS!!! Robben's delivery finds an unmarked Vlaar, but his header is palmed away by Navas and out for a corner. Navas then tries to punch away the resulting corner, and completely misses it.
91' Netherlands get extra-time underway. De Vrij plays a long ball over the top towards on an onrushing Robben, but for the tenth time tonight, the Netherlands are flagged for offside.
Full Time
90+5' The referee blows for the end of normal time. The Dutch have never won a World Cup match which has gone to extra time.
90+4' The ball comes back from the left. It rolls through the 6 yard box and no-one connects despite Kuyt and De Vrij being there. It then comes to Van Persie on the right and is cleared off the line by Tejeda, onto the bar and out. Absolutely chaotic scramble, how the Dutch are not ahead!
90+2' Free kick for Netherlands as Diaz brings Robben to the ground on the edge of the box. Van Persie takes the resulting set piece, but his effort is beaten away by Navas.
89' MISS!!! Great chance for Netherlands to win it as Sneijder puts it on a plate for Van Persie inside the box, but somehow he misses from close range.
88' Lens does really well down the left to get past Gonzalez but the centre back is back at him and slides it out for a throw before he can round him fully.
85' MISS!!! Van Persie finds some space inside the Costa Rican box before firing one towards the bottom corner, but Navas once more makes the save.
82' OFF THE POST!!! Sneijder whips in the free kick but it crashes off the post. Navas was well beaten. The ball comes out but the Dutch can’t convert.
81' Yellow card for Giancarlo Gonzalez. Robben skips past Gonzalez on the edge of the area and is brought down by the Costa Rican defender, and the referee awards a free-kick. Tantalisingly close to being a penalty.
80' A great ball from the right by Kuyt finds Lens in the middle of the box unmarked and he produces a great header which Navas spectacularly saves. He had strayed offside anyway so it wouldn't have counted.
78' Costa Rica substitution. Second Costa Rica change as Myrie replaces injured Gamboa.
76' Netherlands substitution. Memphis Depay comes off for Jeremain Lens.
75' Sneijder puts a great ball into the box but it is headed over by Vlaar.

66' Costa Rica substitution. Joel Campbell is coming off, Marcos Urena comes on. Straight swap that. Campbell doesn’t look happy with the decision.
64' Bruno Martins Indi booked. Indi, who has put himself about a lot tonight, finally gets carded for tugging down Ruiz as he tried to turn him. Free kick 40 yards out on the right. Bolanos sends in the free kick to the back post, Gonzalez gets his head on it but Ron Vlaar does enough to put him off.
63' Campbell wins Costa Rica a free kick 35 yards out just right of centre. Bolanos decides to try an effort at goal with everyone waiting in the area. He blasts it high and wide but it was an intentional ruse to confuse.
62' Costa Rica want a penalty as Campbell goes down inside the Netherlands box, but the referee is not interested. It was brilliant pace from Diaz down the left to set up the chance, but Campbell was eased out by Martins Indi, who made contact with the Arsenal forward.
59' Sneijder finds Robben on the right touchline and he does well to cut back and find Kuyt in the area. He is only about a yard off the byline though and Gonzalez blocks it to clear.
56' Robben feeds Van Persie down the right side of the box. He can't get past Gonzalez but does manage to win a corner. Corner comes over to De Vrij, whose header is blocked. He has an opportunity to lift the ball back into the box but the Costa Ricans clear.
55' Acosta tries to play Campbell in over the top but he has just gone too early. Costa Rica starting to find some space up top finally.
53' Yellow card for Michael Umana. Umana goes in the book for Costa Rica after fouling Robben in a wide area. The resulting free kick is delivered by Robben into Sneijder, but his effort is high and wide of the crossbar. Clever free kick from the Dutch, but it was always a difficult finish from that position.
49' Depay tries to cut in from the left but Costa Rica double up on him and defend well.
47' The Dutch immediately set up camp in the Costa Rica half. More great pressing forces them back though and neither side has changed dramatically at half time.

35' Costa Rica have a sight of goal inside the box, but Blind manages to clear following good work from Campbell at the far post. Robben breaks down the other end, but is felled by Gamboa.
29' Ruiz is hustled and harried back over the half way line into his own half until he loses it. The Netherlands then break but Depay's shot from the left of the area is well saved.
27' Costa Rica try to come forward down the right but Campbell's cross is blocked. Indi then crosses the ball straight out of play in his own half to ramp up the pressure.
25' Wesley Sneijder lifts a lovely ball over the back of the Costa Rican’s defense but Memphis Depay is offside. Seconds later, another opening comes about as Kuyt plays in to Van Persie, but the Dutch captain is offside.
22' MISS!!! Campbell tries to dance his way into the box with a weaving run on the right, but the Dutch come away with it. Kuyt plays the ball across; it comes to Van Persie, whose shot is beaten away and then Sneijder’s follow up is gathered by Navas. Almost a Dutch lead.
19' Joel Campbell plays in a neat ball to Gamboa on the right, who gets a cross into the box but De Vrij hacks it away. Costa Rica pressing here.

De Jong missed out after suffering a groin injury in the opening minutes of the last Dutch game.
The 20-year-old Depay could be on the left of the attack alongside Robin van Persie and Arjen Robben or used in a wing back role as coach Louis van Gaal kept both his opponents and observers in the dark as to his intentions.
The Dutch could now play a 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 formation with either Daley Blind or Dirk Kuyt taking the role of injured midfield hardman Nigel de Jong.
