In its latest programme, it will organise a dance drama styled ‘Badi-Bandar Rupkatha’ at Officers’ Club on Apr 11 at 7pm.

IGCC, a cultural centre of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in Bangladesh, began its journey on Mar 11 in 2010.

The fifth anniversary celebration began last month with the same dance drama at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

‘Badi-Bandar Rupkatha’ is a “mesmerising” production consisting of dance, drama and music, Indian High Commission in Dhaka said, announcing its Apr 11 programme.

The tale of the wood-cutter Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves is one of the stories of the Arabian Nights.

Entry is free.

IGCC is known for organising events to promote India and Bangladesh’s art, music, and culture, apart from offering training in various types of music, dance, painting, yoga and Hindi language.

Its Dhanmondi centre mostly works as a teaching academy, while the other centre at Gulshan has a library and auditorium. Both centres also host cultural programmes.

The Indian High Commission said the IGCC had achieved “enormous popularity” through exchange programs between the two countries in various fields of culture including music, art, dance and drama.

'Srishti Cultural Centre' and ‘Nrityanchal’ will present the dance drama.
