Mahmudullah, who scored successive centuries, hugely contributed in the Tigers’ progress to the quarterfinals. Mushfiq has also played boldly for team in times of need.
In the crunch match against England, Mahmudullah smashed first century for Bangladesh in the World Cup and went on to score another against New Zealand in the next.
The 29-year old scored 365 runs in six matches at an average of 73 in the tournament.
“(Mahmudullah) Riyad was extraordinary in the World Cup. He was under immense pressure, yet, the way he played, his name should come right after Kumar Sangakkara in this World Cup.”
Sangakkara signed off from ODIs scoring four consecutive centuries in the World Cup.
Mushfiq scored 298 runs in six matches at an average of 49.66. He struck the ball cleanly quite often and had a great strike rate in the showcase event.
“He has been playing well for the last 3-4 years,” said Mashrafe.
The skipper was all praises for young Soumya Sarkar and Sabbir Rahman as well.
Sarkar anchored the team after the openers were dismissed while Sabbir helped the team with some late onslaughts.
