Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations scheduled for Thursday were deferred to May 25 as a precautionary measure against approaching cyclone ‘Mahasen’.

Dhaka Education Board Chairman Professor Taslima Begum confirmed bdnews24.com of the deferral on Wednesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, all educational institutions adjoining coastal areas were also closed down until further notice.
Usually, those schools are used as shelter homes during storms.
Shorelines of Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar were asked to maintain hoisting danger signal ‘7’ until further notice as the storm was located inside 800 kilometres off Bangladesh coast.
The storm might hit the shore by Thursday, bulletin read. It is being forecasted that Cox’s Bazar and Myanmar will be struck by ‘Mahasen’.
“Since it is danger signal ‘7’, the storm can affect the entire nation. That is why exams of all boards have been deferred,” Professor Taslima said.
Several board examinations have been deferred earlier for strikes. Prime opposition 18-Party alliance called a whole-day nationwide shutdown on Sunday.
Dhaka board Chiarman said fresh date of the examinations rescheduled because of the strike would be notified later.
