Natalya Pasternak, 55, suffered severe injuries to her head and thigh, according to ‘The Siberian Times’.
The post office worker and her dog were attacked in Tynda, in Amur Region.
A friend, who was with her, escaped and alerted emergency services, the report added.
The bear attacked the rescuers when they rushed to the scene.
They shot dead the four-year-old female bear.
Pasternak was found buried under a pile of leaves, alive and conscious but badly injured.
The bear was apparently saving her for its next meal.
She was rushed to Tynda hospital where doctors said she is in a 'severe' condition and that her two children were with her, the report said.
Several people have been killed in bear attacks last year in Russia’s far east forests where they are quite common, added ‘The Independent’.
