YouTuber Niko Omilana has stirred up fresh controversy by mocking Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who has been re-elected as MP after retaining his Richmond and Northallerton seat.
After Sunak's Conservative Party conceded defeat on Thursday, Niko pulled out a piece of paper with a giant 'L' sign on it to mock the prime minister as he delivered his victory speech.
Niko, who has 7.49 million followers online, stood behind Sunak on stage and synced his movements to the cameras' motion so his 'take the loss' prop was always in view.
The prankster, an independent candidate vying for Sunak's Richmond and Northallerton seat, donned funky sunglasses after garnering a mere 160 votes.
During his speech, Sunak said he had already called Keir Starmer, the Labour Party leader, to congratulate him on the big win.
He also said he takes full responsibility for the Conservative Party's loss in the general elections.
"The British people have delivered a sobering verdict tonight. There is much to learn and reflect on, and I take full responsibility for the loss," said Sunak.
Sunak, his wife, and his entourage left the stage as soon as he was done with his speech after the results were out.
Niko has been making headlines in the 2024 general elections after declaring that he is out on a mission to remove Sunak from politics entirely.
He stirred up more controversy recently after breaching the UK Electoral Commission's rules by registering his name in 11 different constituencies.
On Jun 11, Niko took to X to declare 'a war on the system,' and mostly against Sunak as the prime minister had plans to implement a national service programme for youths in the UK.
Niko wrote in his much-retweeted X post: "Rishi Sunak wants to send young people to war. So, I have decided to declare war on the system."
In 2021, Niko also ran for mayor of London as an independent candidate, garnering around 50,000 votes.
While his dramatic stunts have not had any repercussions, Niko also gained 16 million views after creating a video titled "How I Won the London Mayor Election."
