Once a major source of water, the Shubhadda Canal in Keraniganj, Dhaka, is barely a canal anymore. Instead of fresh water, nearly half of the 7-km long canal is overflowing with waste. Even in the middle of heavy rain, the canal is chock-full of plastic waste. The regular dumping of garment and market scraps is slowly turning it into a landfill.
