Homeland Security has threatened to halt immigration processing at more than a dozen other airports in so-called "sanctuary cities”
Biman remains cautious as it keeps several key Middle East routes suspended
The letter also requests that the airport not be used for non-scheduled international flights or emergency landings
While private airlines have shown little interest, Biman Bangladesh Airlines plans to operate flights to Kolkata starting this month
China Eastern Airlines has also expressed interest in operating flights from Shah Amanat Airport, though no official decision has been made yet
The advisor says the launch will start with a single flight, with more routes to follow in phases
