Dhaka, May 10 (BDNEWS) – Mokhlesur hammered the first ton in opening day of the Dhaka Bank National U-19 Cricket Championship, but he could not avoid his side Natore to concede a two wickets defeat against Rajshahi at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium Wednesday.
Batted first, Natore piled a moderate 203 for eight in 50 overs riding on Mokhlesur's 103-run knock off 151 balls featuring 12 boundaries.
Rajshahi, in reply, reached home scoring 204 for eight in 47.4 overs as Arif hammered 65 and Talha hit 38.
At the Barguna Stadium, a superb six wicket haul from Piyer powered Barisal (121/3) to a convincing seven-wicket win over Bhola (118/10). Piyer captured six wickets for 27 to damage the opponents' innings.
An unbeaten 41 runs from Jony helped Munsignaj (157/7) thrash Dhaka (156/10) by three wickets at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium while Bandarban (137/5) registered an easy fine five-wicket win over Khagrachari (136/10) at Chittagong Divisional Stadium.
Gazipur (143/7) recorded a three-wicket victory over Mymensingh (137/10) at Faridpur Stadium while Noagaon (222/9) registered a slim one-wicket victory over Bogra (219/9) at Natore Stadium.
Earlier, State Minister for Youth and Sports M Fazlur Rahman inaugurated the championship at Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium.
Bangladesh Cricket Board vice-president and tournament committee chairman Shah Nurul Kabir Shaheen MP, sponsors Dhaka Bank Managing Director Shahed Noman, Deputy Managing Director Abu Musa and coordinator of the tournament committee Ali Hossain were also present.
