BNP meets National Consensus Commission over reform proposals

The BNP is meeting with the National Consensus Committee (NCC) to discuss the proposals drafted by the five reform commissions of the government.
The meeting kicked off at 10:30am in the LD Hall of the National Parliament building on Thursday.
A four-membered delegation led by BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan attended the meeting. Other members of the delegation were Standing Committee Member Salah Uddin Ahmed, Advisory Council Member Ismail Zabihullah, and Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal.
Prof Ali Reaz, vice chairman of the NCC, is presiding over the meeting with commission members Badiul Alam Mazumdar, retired justices Emdadul Haque, Iftekharruzzaman and special assistant to the chief advisor Monir Haider.
On Feb 15, the NCC held a first meeting with several political parties, including the BNP.
Commission Chairman and Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus presided over the meeting.
After that, the commission members have been meeting separately with the different political parties at the LD Hall.
The NCC began formal discussion meetings to finalise the recommendations drafted by the reform commissions from Mar 20. The first meeting was held with the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). As of now, 11 political parties have met with the committee.
The political parties were requested to provide their opinions on the recommendations drafted by the first phase of reform commissions including the Constitution Reform Commission, Public Administration Reform Commission, Judiciary Reform Commission, and Anti-Corruption Prevention Commission. Their recommendations were sent out to 39 registered political parties.
The commission said it had received opinions from 34 political parties as of now.
