Raja Tonkonath’s Palace in ruins

The ancient ‘Rajbari’ or palace of Raja Tonkonath lies on the bank of Kulik River, one kilometre east of Thakurgaon’s Ranishankail Upazila town. Son of Raja Buddhinath Chowdhury, Tonkonath finished building the palace on 10 acres of land in 1915. A total lack of initiative for its preservation has pushed this beautiful architecture on the brink of complete destruction. Photo: asaduzzaman pramanik
