Mohammad Ejaz, administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), has said as many as 5,500 volunteers will work with them to prevent Aedes mosquitoes from spreading during the monsoon season as part of a public awareness campaign.

Speaking at a discussion on dengue prevention at the DNCC Nagar Bhaban, Ejaz said that DNCC had been focusing on raising public awareness alongside other methods of control to curb mosquito-borne diseases.

“There is no alternative to raising public awareness and we will prioritise it the most.

“Modern traps will be used to kill mosquitoes in public areas. The quality of insecticides will be tested in an impartial lab.”
