Nearly 226,561 candidates have applied for re-evaluation of around 428,000 answer scripts of Higher Secondary certificate (HSC) and equivalent exams across 11 education boards, citing “unsatisfactory” results.
The highest number of applications was submitted to the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka. The lowest was 7,916 to the Madrasah Education Board.
The controller of examinations of the Dhaka education board told bdnews24.com on Saturday, “There is a rule to publish the results of re-evaluation within 30 days of the publication of the original results.
“Accordingly, the results of the reviewed scripts will be published by Nov 16.”
The results of the HSC and equivalent exams were published on Oct 16. Candidates who were “unsatisfied with the results” were given the opportunity to apply for re-evaluation of their answer sheets online until Oct 23.
Students had to apply by paying a fee of Tk 150 for each script.
Every year, candidates dissatisfied with their results can have their public examination papers reviewed.
In this process, however, the papers are not fully re-evaluated. Instead, the marks awarded for each answer are recalculated to ensure they have been added correctly.
According to the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, 66,150 candidates from the Dhaka board have applied for re-evaluation of 136,506 papers.
In the Chattogram board, 22,595 candidates have requested a review of 46,148 scripts.
