The Bangladesh German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI) – Bangladesh’s ‘biggest’ bilateral business chamber – celebrated 10 years of its existence on Friday in Dhaka with more than 450 member companies.
With $3.5 billion in exports, Germany is the second largest market for Bangladesh. The two-way trade between the two countries is more than $4 billion.
The Chamber’s Executive Director Daniel Seidl said they started the Chamber officially in June 2003 with “43 paying members and most of them were not satisfied”.
“First we decided to listen to the thoughts of our members and analyse their needs and develop tools to serve them,” he said describing how the Chamber rapidly grew.
“To summarise, the key factors behind the Chamber’s success are listening, analysing, implementing with right timing and respecting the Asian and European cultures.”
President Shakhawat Abu Khair said their chamber became the biggest bilateral chamber in Bangladesh with the increase in volume of trade.
The celebration brought together business leaders, ambassadors and its member companies.
