The interim government has kept fuel prices unchanged for the month of August, marking the second consecutive month without any adjustment in retail rates.

According to an official order issued by the Ministry of Energy on Thursday, four types of fuel -- diesel, kerosene, octane, and petrol -- will continue to be sold at existing prices throughout the month.

Typically, revised prices, if any, come into effect at midnight on the date of announcement.

The current rates are:

• Diesel: Tk 102 per litre

• Kerosene: Tk 114

• Octane: Tk 122

• Petrol: Tk 118

Fuel prices were last revised in June. At the time, the price of kerosene was increased by Tk 10 per litre, while diesel dropped by Tk 2, and both petrol and octane were reduced by Tk 3 per litre.

Earlier in March and April, prices were held steady.

In February, the government raised the prices of all four fuel types by Tk 1 per litre.

The Energy and Mineral Resources Division said in its notice that the decision was based on the automatic pricing formula introduced in March 2024, which adjusts local rates according to international market trends.

The aim is to ensure stable fuel supply at an affordable rate for consumers, it added
