Molla was taken to the Dhaka Central Jail Tuesday afternoon after the verdict was pronounced. He was later transferred to the Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur Thursday afternoon.
Kashimpur Jail Jailor Suvash Chandra Ghosh said Molla lost all his facilities as the verdict ruled him out of a ‘division’.
“He was sent to a general cell in a general inmate’s attire and dignity. From now on, he will live like a general inmate,” he said.
Quader Molla was lodged in the Dhaka Central Jail after his arrest on Jul 19, 2010. He was sent to Kashimpur on Jun 24, 2011.
The Islamist party called nationwide daylong shutdowns Tuesday and Wednesday in protest against the verdict on Quader Molla.
On the other hand, unhappy with a ‘softer verdict’, people erupted in protests. The protesters in Shahbagh have been demonstrating to demand a death verdict for Molla.
