“The detective police have reopened the press on Saturday afternoon. But the newspaper will not be published on Sunday. It will be out on Monday,” the newspaper’s Special Correspondent Shakhawat Hossain Badsha told bdnews24.com.
The police, however, evaded a direct comment on the matter.
“The main entrance of Inqilab is open. We are yet to get any order from the court on the printing press. Steps will be taken after receiving court orders,” Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman told bdnews24.com.
“The decision to publish the print edition came after the Prime Minister’s initiative and the intervention of the Information Minister, Law Minister and State Minister for Home following an apology issued by the newspaper over the published news,” said Inqilab’s Special Correspondent Badsha.
The Inqilab had run a report on Jan 16, claiming that the Indian army had aided the Bangladesh's joint forces' drive in Satkhira.
Soon after the report was published, the daily’s printing press was closed down after a raid on its office in the capital's Ramkrishna Mission Road.
Its News Editor Rabiulla Robi, Diplomatic Correspondent Ahmed Atik and Deputy Chief Correspondent Rafiq Mohammad were arrested then.
