The recruitment examination for leadership positions in private educational institutions is set to go ahead on Saturday, after a last-minute legal impasse was cleared by the Appellate Division.
Around 53,000 candidates are expected to sit the test, organised by the Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA), marking the first time that recruitment for heads and assistant heads of institutions is being conducted through the body.
The MCQ-based written examination will be held across nine centres in Dhaka, with all logistical preparations already completed, said Lutfor Rahman, assistant director of the NTRCA’s Law and Coordination branch, on Thursday.
The recruitment drive aims to fill 12,951 posts, including principals, vice-principals, head teachers, assistant head teachers, superintendents and assistant superintendents in private schools, colleges, madrasas and technical institutions.
Candidates will sit for an 80-mark written test, followed by an 8-mark oral examination, while the remaining 12 marks will be allocated based on academic qualifications.
The process has faced legal challenges.
On Thursday, a High Court bench ordered a two-month suspension of the exam and stayed the revised recruitment notice issued on Mar 25, following a petition by 114 applicants.
However, the Appellate Division stayed the High Court order on the same day, allowing the examination to proceed as scheduled.
“The examination will be held this Saturday per the previous schedule,” Lutfor told bdnews24.com.
The recruitment process has undergone several revisions.
An initial notice issued on Jan 29 drew over 80,000 applications.
Following amendments to the MPO policy, the minimum teaching experience requirement was raised from 10–15 years to at least 18 years, prompting a revised notice.
The updated circular reduced vacancies by 608 posts and triggered a second round of applications from Mar 28 to Apr 4, during which 53,059 candidates applied.
Admit cards have already been uploaded, and candidates have been instructed to download and print them, with exam venues specified on the documents.
