All suspension orders were signed by Home Secretary Nasimul Gani on Jun 26, though they were published on the ministry’s website on Sunday.
According to the circulars, these officers will be entitled to subsistence allowances during their suspension period, as per regulations.
In a separate order, Assistant Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Al Imran Hossain has been suspended following the issuance of an arrest warrant in a dowry case filed by his wife.
The circular said that a case was filed against Al Imran under the Dowry Prohibition Act in a Kurigram Magistrate Court in 2020. An arrest warrant was issued in 2021.
Despite regulations requiring police officers to inform authorities of any criminal case or warrant against them, Al Imran failed to do so. As a result, he has been temporarily suspended from Feb 14, 2021, the date the warrant was issued, in accordance with government service laws.
Previously, on Apr 22, 2024, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a minor penalty suspending the increment of his salary for one year, after obtaining information that he concealed information about being married before joining government service.
In 2020, his wife filed a written complaint with the Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner seeking official recognition as his spouse. Two days later, Al Imran served her with a divorce notice.
Upon verification of her claims, he received a minor punishment in 2024. Now, he faces a temporary suspension.
