The committee reports over 31,000 injured, with data verification still ongoing

The health sub-committee has published a list of those killed during the July-August uprising led by the Anti-discrimination Student Movement.
According to the latest figures, a total of 1,581 people have been reported dead across the country.
The latest figures were shared at 3:30pm on Saturday during a press conference held at the Dhaka University Teacher-Student Centre, or TSC, auditorium, organised by the health subcommittee, citizen committee, and other stakeholders.
According to the sub-committee, more than 31,000 students and civilians were injured in the uprising, although members of the committee pointed out that the data remains incomplete.
They explained that some names had been reported multiple times, while others are yet to be included in the official list.
Health Sub-committee Secretary Tariq Reza said, “With the joint efforts of the health affairs central sub-committee and the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, we have been able to draft a preliminary list of those martyred in the movement across the country.”
He said the list has been sent to district-level committees, led by the deputy commissioners, to verify the information. Once validated, the final list will be submitted to the health ministry.
He also mentioned that organisations like As-Sunnah Foundation, Human Rights Support Society, and Red July, along with several other agencies, contributed to the list's preparation. In addition, various local individuals contributed valuable information that played a key role in finalising the list.
Nasir Uddin Patwary, convener of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, said the names on the list were confirmed through direct communication or phone calls with the families of the martyrs. However, he pointed out that there are likely more names still missing from the list.
“We are working closely with the district committees to ensure every name is verified and included in the final list,” he said.
