The voter list update process has found information on over 1 million dead voters, who will be removed from the existing record.
During the 2022 update, a maximum of 2.2 million dead voters were excluded.
As of Sunday, data from nearly 3.5 million eligible citizens has been collected through the ongoing revision.
Election Commission Additional Secretary KM Ali Newaz and National Identity Registration Wing Director General ASM Humayun Kabir provided these details.
Monday marked the final day of the update process, with the complete data set to be disclosed on Tuesday.
The Election Commission began collecting data for the electoral roll update through door-to-door visits on Jan 20.
From Wednesday (Feb 5), photos, fingerprints, and eye iris scans will be taken for the eligible citizens whose data has been collected. The process will continue until Apr 11.
Eligible citizens can also visit designated centres to submit Form-2, provide biometric data, and complete their voter registration.
The update will include the registration of new voters born on or before Jan 1, 2008, the removal of dead voters from the list, and information about transfers due to changes in residence.
Ali Newaz said on Monday night, "As of Sunday, nearly 2.5 percent to 3 percent of the total eligible population has been updated, with more than 2 million removed, and over 1.4 million new voters added.
“Over one million dead voters have been excluded."
NID Wing Director General Humayun said although the data collection has concluded, those excluded can still update their information by visiting photo-taking centres with the required documents.
“The door-to-door data collection has also helped raise awareness. Voter registration is an ongoing process, and citizens can still enrol at registration centres.
“Around 4 million applications have been received, and data on over 1 million dead people has been gathered for removal from the voter list.”
He added that the Election Commission will publish the final updated voter data on Tuesday.
