Brent Staples

is an author and an editorial writer for The New York Times. He has been a member of the Times editorial board since 1990. In 2019, Staples won the Pulitzer Prize for editorial writing, The New York Times’s first winner for editorial writing in 23 years. His books include ‘An American Love Story’ and ‘Parallel Time: Growing up In Black and White’. He writes about political, social and cultural issues, including race and the state of the American school system.
