Madrid, Oct 13 (bdnews224.com) – Luis Figo does not regret leaving Barcelona for Clasico rivals Real Madrid as he looks back on his career as a player during his 10-year spell in Spain.
The 38-year-old is currently an ambassador for Inter after his retirement from playing football in 2009, reports goal.com
Figo enjoyed a stellar career at club and international level and won a number of titles at Barcelona and Real Madrid during his time there.
The former Portugal international played for Barcelona between 1995 and 2000 before leaving for Madrid where he spent another five years prior to joining Inter. However, he does not regret the Madrid move despite coming under heavy criticism from Barcelona fans at the time.
"There was a lot of pressure on me, but looking back I think I made the right choice as joining Real Madrid allowed me to win many trophies," he told Montecarlonews.it.
However, the Camp Nou side had an influence on Figo as he praises former coach Johan Cruyff.
"When I arrived at Barcelona Cruyff made me a great player, he made me an international player," Figo explained.
Barcelona play Racing Santander and Real Madrid meet Real Betis on Saturday in La Liga action.
