Dhaka, Feb 6 (bdnews24.com) — Bangladesh's biggest private carrier, GMG has increased its number of flight between Chittagong and Kolkata.
Instead of the previous two every week, GMG is offering daily flights between the port city and Kolkata.
GMG also operates two daily flights from Dhaka connecting with the same Indian destination.
"We are delighted to have frequent flights between Chittagong and Kolkata. The higher frequency is a response to the growing demand for increased connectivity in the region," GMG managing director Shahab Sattar said.
"GMG is also expanding its global flight network to connect with more destinations," he added.
Owned by the industrial conglomerate Beximco, GMG started operations on April 6, 1998. It began with domestic services and launched international flights in September 2004, with flights between Chittagong and Kolkata.
With eight international and five domestic destinations, GMG operates 234 flights every week. GMG's international destinations include Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Kathmandu, Kolkata, Karachi, Dubai, Jeddah and Riyadh. The carrier's domestic destinations include Dhaka, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet.
