A2I gets world recognition

Access to Information (A2I) project has received ‘World Summit on Information (WSIS) Prize 2014’ in recognition of its role in improving people’s lives through the use of ICT.

State Minister of ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak has received the award at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva on Tuesday. The award was in the category of service at people’s doorstep.

An A2I press release says: ”The award has been given in recognition of implementing ‘Digital Bangladesh Vision 2021’ to ensure service at people’s doorstep using ICT and to bring positive change in people’s lifestyle in 5 years.”

This award is considered a milestone in implementing ICT initiatives.

A2I project, led by the Prime Minister’s office with technical help from the UNDP and USAID, has been working to make Bangladesh a middle-income country through a proper use of technology.

A2I has been providing agriculture, education, health and other services in all Unions and Districts. It also operates Information Centers across the country.
