Media and communication committee chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Jalal Yunus confirmed this to reporters on Monday.
The board has not taken a decision yet on his resignation. It will wait for the arrival of its President from abroad.
Despite tendering his resignation, Jurgensen will serve the country’s cricket team until their three-match ODI series against India in June this year, according to Yunus.
Queensland-born Jurgensen, who served as an interim coach for the series against West Indies in 2012, did a good job and was appointed the full-time coach in February 2013. He was given a two-year contract until the 2015 Cricket World Cup.
However, a series of poor results led to an uncertainty over his future as coach and he eventually called it quits.
