FBCCI President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed called for the ban on strikes after meeting Finance Minister AMA Muhith at the secretariat on Wednesday. “Shutdowns, violence affect business… We want change of the current situation,” he said.
“We are held hostage by the recent chaos and mayhem … Parties can have their own beliefs… But business wants a way out of the crisis,” he said.
Government says 67 people have died in the nationwide violence unleashed by the Jamaat-e-Islami after its leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee was sentenced to death.
“Government has to decide how to come out of the ongoing violence… Government has to come forward… We have met with the Prime Minister… We have come to you… and we will go to opposition leader, but we want a way out ” Akram Uddin said he told Muhith.
“You (government) and they (opposition) must respond,” he said.
