The Tigers have time and again been criticised for their unpredictability but were consistent throughout the showcase event .
The team returned home on Sunday after bowing out of the tournament losing to India in the knockout stage, which they had reached for the first time.
Mashrafe told reporters, “Being consistent is most important. We struggled to maintain that before. But we’ve managed to pull it off since the Zimbabwe series.”
“Whether we won or lost, our performance graph was good. We will win most matches if we keep that up.”
The Tigers had a forgettable first six months last year, losing to Afghanistan in the Asia Cup and Hong Kong in the Twenty20 World Cup at home.
But they turned things around and earned back fans’ respect by the end of the year by winning both the Test and ODI series against Zimbabwe.
The Tigers continued their fine form at the World Cup, too, securing a spot in the quarterfinals beating Afghanistan, Scotland and England in the group stage.
Mashrafe said, “I believe every single win was important for the team.”
He said they will use the confidence gained during the World Cup in the upcoming series.
Bangladesh are scheduled to play against Pakistan, India, South Africa and Australia at home this year.
“This year, we’ll play against the teams who are ranked higher than us. I believe the confidence our players have gained will come in handy during the whole year.”
The skipper credited the whole team for the wins in the World Cup.
“This was totally a team effort. I only tried my best from my position. We worked together and tried to enjoy most of it,” said Mashrafe.
