Rejection will hurt BNP more: Rafique

He felt the Opposition should have called off its planned 60-hour countrywide shutdown starting Sunday accepting the offer for a dialogue over dinner.

“The BNP found itself in a tight spot for the first time it rejected the Prime Minister’s proposal for an all-party election-time government,” Haque said on Saturday, speaking to bdnews24.com.

“It (the opposition) again has put itsels in a tight spot in the game of politics by opposing the Prime Minister’s proposal to sit for talks and withdraw its pre-announced shutdown.

“This is a political gain for the Awami League,” he said in his reaction to Opposition Leader Khaleda Zia’s rejection.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina invited her arch political rival to dinner at the Ganabhaban but the BNP turned down the offer and decided to go ahead with its strike plan.
